ホワイトアルバムの12曲目は、Piggiesです。一見では、題名は子豚、ハープシーコード(鍵盤楽器)が使われて楽しげな曲に思えます。しかし、内容は非常に辛辣な風刺となっており、階級社会の不公平さに対するものになっているそうです。

ホワイトアルバムのB面1曲目はMartha my dearです。ポールが飼っていた大型牧羊犬のマーサへの愛が歌われた曲となっています。ポップな曲ですが、ポールの弾くピアノはかなりテクニカルです。
マーサを愛してやまないのかと思いきや、彼女のイタズラに困っている歌詞も入っています。ポールの話によると、この曲は、Martha my dearとSilly girlという二つの曲案を合わせて作られた曲のようです。

ホワイトアルバムの8曲目、A面のラストはHappiness is a warm gunです。後期ビートルズのジョンの作風はどれも尖りに尖っていますが、この曲はその中でも凶悪(?)な曲です。歌詞は全部が性的な意味や薬物についてとなっています。ジョンの言葉を借りると、温かい銃とは何かを撃った後、ということらしいです。加えて、fixというのは薬物のきめ直しというスラングだそうです。
ジョンはインタビューで歌詞の意味について聞かれたとき、性的な意味についてはほとんど認めていますが、薬物について否認しています。しかし、確信犯だと思います。

ジョンはそんなつもりはないかもしれませんが、現在虎は絶滅の危機にあるので、かなりメッセージ性を感じます。
この曲の題材は、ジョンが見聞きした実話に基づいているらしいです。
ビートルズがインド旅行をしている時、リチャード・クック3世という青年が、マハリシに虎狩りをしたことを告白し、激怒されたというエピソードです。
